Teresa Reyes Killed in Van Zandt County Two-Vehicle Crash on US Highway 80

Van Zandt County, Texas (December 2, 2022) – A woman was killed Wednesday night in a two-vehicle crash in Van Zandt County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 8:00 p.m., November 30, on US Highway 80.

DPS said Teresa Reyes, 57, of Wills Point, was driving a 2014 Ford Focus eastbound on the highway while a 2013 Freightliner truck tractor towing a semi-trailer was traveling westbound and was trying to turn left into a private drive.

Reyes failed to control her speed and collided with the trailer. She was taken to a Canton hospital, where she later died.

The troopers are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
