Tony Kaufman Killed in Aransas Pass Motorcycle Accident on Deberry Avenue
Aransas Pass, Texas (November 17, 2019) – A man was killed in a motorcycle accident early Sunday morning in Aransas Pass, according to the police.
The accident occurred just after 1:00 a.m. on Deberry Avenue.
According to police, officers were responding to a motorcycle speeding up and down the roadway when the motorcyclist, 25-year-old Tony Kaufman, allegedly taunted the officer before speeding away.
Field Training Officer Jack McCarty and his trainee Officer Jairo Herrera arrived at the scene a while later and during the pursuit, their SUV unit struck Kaufman, who was riding with his lights off.
The impact sent Kaufman and his motorcycle into a grass field.
Kaufman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officer McCarty and Officer Herrera were treated for minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
