Tristan Reidhaar Killed and 9 Injured in Callahan County Four-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 206

Callahan County, Texas – One person was killed and nine other people were injured Thursday afternoon in a four-vehicle crash in Callahan County, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 3:34 p.m., December 21, on State Highway 206, two miles south of Cross Plains.

Authorities said a Ford pickup towing a trailer was traveling southbound while a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling northbound and was being followed by a Honda Accord and a Honda Civic.

Due to traveling at an unsafe speed for the rainy conditions, the Ford driver lost control and the trailer began to sway violently. The Ford entered the northbound lane and collided head-on with the Chevrolet.

The trailer then continued in the northbound lane, causing the Honda Accord to strike the trailer. The driver of the Honda Civic saw the collision and attempted to take evasive action, but lost control and struck a fence post.

The Ford driver, 41-year-old Edan Ramon Cerda from Fort Worth, was taken to the hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. Four passengers, Erica Montanez Cerda, 40, and three juveniles, ages 13, 15, and 17, all from Fort Worth, were transported to Hendrick North with non-incapacitating injuries.

The Chevrolet driver, 19-year-old Andrew Bryce Spencer, was transported to Hendrick North with incapacitating injuries and was listed in critical condition. The passenger, 28-year-old Tristan Andrew Reidhaar of Viola, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, 19-year-old Alan Andre Cano from Laredo, and passenger, Jahiel Aaron Vargas, 19, of Laredo, of the Honda Accord were transported to Hendrick North with non-incapacitating injuries and were listed in stable condition.

The driver of the Honda Civic, 23-year-old Alexander Joseph Huff from Aledo, was treated and released at the scene.

The authorities are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
