Vivian Swaim Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on US 259 in Kilgore

Vivian Swaim Killed in Kilgore Two-Vehicle Crash on US Highway 259

Kilgore, Texas (May 19, 2022) – One person was killed and two others were injured Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Kilgore, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened on May 18, on US Highway 259 near the Rusk County Line.

DPS said Vivian A. Swaim, 56, of Kilgore, was driving southbound on the highway while a dump truck was traveling northbound.

Swaim drifted into oncoming lane, for unknown reasons, and struck the dump truck.

Swaim was taken to Christus Trinity Mother Frances – Kilgore where she later died. Her passenger was taken to LSU Hospital – Shreveport in critical condition.

The dump truck driver was taken to Longview Regional Hospital in stable condition.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
