Scottie Dunn and Shavinder Singh Killed in Oldham County Crash on Interstate 40

Oldham County, Texas (October 24, 2022) – Two people were killed early Friday morning in a crash in Oldham County, according to the Texas DPS.

The deadly accident happened around 5:15 a.m., October 21, on Interstate 40, approximately 36 miles west of Vega.

DPS said a 2021 Volvo truck tractor-semi-trailer was traveling westbound in the outside lane of the interstate while a 2007 Peterbilt tow truck towing a truck tractor-semitrailer was legally parked on the westbound shoulder. The tow truck had just attached to another truck tractor semi-trailer to tow it.

The driver of the tow truck, Scottie Dunn, 42, of Amarillo, was legally standing outside on the shoulder, next to the truck.

The driver of the Volvo, Shavinder Singh, 32, of Livermore, California, drifted onto the shoulder and struck the tow truck, the attached truck tractor semi-trailer, and Dunn.

The tow truck continued heading westbound into the northbound ditch, where it rolled over onto its side.

Dunn and Singh were pronounced dead at the scene.

The road conditions were dry and clear at the time of the crash.

The Texas Highway Patrol Troopers are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A.
