Austin, Texas – According to the police, a second person has died following a hit-and-run accident that left another person dead last month in downtown Austin.

The deadly accident happened around 1:09 a.m., March 12, at the intersection of East Seventh Street and Red River Street.

Police said two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle at the intersection.

One of the pedestrians, 26-year-old Cody Jordan Shelton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second pedestrian, 34-year-old William Dunham, was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries where he died weeks later.

Thompson was involved in another crash on Tuesday morning elsewhere in Travis County and was arrested on unrelated charges. He was charged with Crash Involving Death charges.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
