Winogene Mayfield Killed in Wise County Car Accident on Farm Road 730 between Boyd and Decatur
Wise County, Texas (February 10, 2019) – The Boyd woman who was injured last month in a traffic crash involving two vehicles in Wise County has died, authorities said.
The tragic accident occurred at about 2:40 p.m. Friday, January 18 on FM 730 between Boyd and Decatur.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2016 Chevrolet passenger car driven by Winogene Mayfield, 81, was traveling northbound on FM 730.
A 2009 Lexus passenger car operated by Lacretia Lumas, 40, of Bridgeport, veered off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and drifted into the northbound lane, where it collided with Mayfield’s vehicle.
Mayfield was airlifted to John Peter Smith Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries Tuesday, February 5.
No other injuries were reported.
DPS is investigating the accident.
