Woman In Electric Wheelchair Hit, Killed by Vehicle on West 10th Street in Houston

Woman Killed in Houston Pedestrian Accident on West 10th Street and Dorothy Street

Houston, Texas (August 16, 2023) – A woman in an electric wheelchair died after she was struck by a vehicle on Tuesday evening in Houston, according to Houston police.

The crash happened at around 6:55 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, in the block of 1100 West 10th Street and Dorothy Street.

Houston police said the woman in an electric wheelchair was heading northbound on Dorothy Street when she entered the intersection of West 10th Street and was hit by a gray Ford Explorer that was traveling westbound on West 10th Street.

The woman, only identified as a 55-year-old, was transported to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased.

The 71-year-old male driver stopped at the scene and was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The crash remains under investigation.
