28-Year-Old Johnell Hornsby Killed in San Angelo Pedestrian Accident on North Oakes Street

San Angelo, Texas (March 14, 2020) – A pedestrian was fatally hit by a suspected drunk driver early Saturday morning in San Angelo, according to a local news source.

The deadly accident happened around 1:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of North Oakes Street.

According to a preliminary investigation, Brian Castillo, 29, of San Angelo, was driving a 2014 Dodge Dart northbound at a high rate of speed when he crossed into the southbound lane, left the roadway and hit a pedestrian before crashing into a street sign and utility pole.

The pedestrian, 28-year-old Johnell Hornsby, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Castillo sustained non-incapacitating injuries. He was arrested and charged with Intoxication Manslaughter with Vehicle.

An investigation is ongoing.
