Decatur Man Matthew Romero Killed in Rhome Pedestrian Crash on US 81/287

Rhome, Texas (July 27, 2019) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car early Saturday morning in Rhome, according to the Rhome police.

The incident took place at about 4:40 a.m. on US 81/287.

Police said Matthew Romero, 32, of Decatur, was walking northbound on southbound US 81/287  when he was hit by a southbound Nissan Altima driven by Roxanne Wine, 56, of Chico.

Romero was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.

Wine was not injured.

The Rhome Police Department is investigating the crash.
