Woman Critically Injured in Houston Crash on Connecting Ramp between U.S. 290 Inbound and North Loop

Houston, Texas (June 17, 2023) – A 27-year-old woman was injured in a wrong-way crash early Friday morning in Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.

The crash occurred at around 1:38 a.m. Friday, June 16, on the connecting ramp between US-290 inbound and the North Loop.

Houston police said the 27-year-old woman was driving the wrong way on the freeway when for unknown reasons, she stopped her car on the connecting ramp in a moving lane of traffic.

An 18-wheeler reportedly slammed into the woman’s car. The car fell about 18 feet off the freeway to a grassy median.

The woman was trapped inside the car and had to be extricated by emergency responders. She was then taken to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition.

The truck driver did not suffer any injuries and was not intoxicated.

It is undetermined if the woman was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
