Woman Killed in DWI Crash on Bellaire Boulevard in Houston; Luis Avila Arrested

30-Year-Old Woman Killed in Houston Two-Vehicle Crash on Bellaire Boulevard at Ranchester; Luis Avila Arrested

Houston, Texas (May 23, 2022) – A 30-year-old woman was killed, and a man was arrested Sunday morning following a DWI crash in Houston, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 3:40 a.m., May 22, in the 9200 block of Bellaire Boulevard at Ranchester.

Authorities said Luis Alejandro Avalos Avila, 22, was driving a red GMC Yukon westbound on Bellaire, and he blew through several lights. He then crashed into a black SUV that was traveling southbound on Ranchester.

The SUV driver, a 30-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.

Avila failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody. He is facing an intoxication manslaughter charge.

No other information was available.

The crash remains under investigation.
