Zitlali Diaz Struck, Killed by Car on Mile 10 North in Weslaco

Zitlali Diaz Killed in Weslaco Pedestrian Accident on Mile 10 North 

Weslaco, Texas (February 17, 2021) – A 16-year-old girl was fatally hit by a vehicle Tuesday night in Weslaco, according to the DPS.

The deadly accident happened around 7:40 p.m., February 16, on Mile 10 North, west of Mile 4 West.

According to a preliminary investigation, Zitlali Diaz, 16, of Mercedes, was walking westbound on the street when she was hit by a westbound red Ford Mustang.

Diaz was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The Mustang driver remained at the scene after the accident. He and his female passenger were uninjured in the crash.

Investigators said the street was dark at the time of the crash.

No other details were provided.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
