Donald Mundell Killed in Gray County Bicycle Accident on CR E at CR 9

Gray County, Texas (October 19, 2023) – According to the Texas DPS, a bicyclist was killed Tuesday afternoon in a crash in Gray County.

The deadly accident happened on October 17, at the intersection of CR E and CR 9.

DPS said a 1998 Lincoln Executive was traveling westbound on CR E while Donald Mundell, 53, of Pampa, was riding a bicycle southbound on CR 9.

Mundell failed to yield the right of way, made a left turn onto CR E in front of the car, and was rear-ended by the car.

The Lincoln driver said that the sun was in their field of vision, and they could not see the bike that pulled out in front.

Mundell was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Lincoln driver was uninjured in the crash.

The Texas Highway Patrol Troopers are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
