Driver Killed in San Antonio Crash on Rittiman Road and Gibbs Sprawl Road
San Antonio, Texas (February 3, 2019) – One person was killed early Sunday morning in a traffic accident in San Antonio, according to a local news source.
The tragic wreck happened at about 3:10 a.m. on Rittiman Road and Gibbs Sprawl Road.
According to police, a driver was traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Rittiman Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign and struck an 18-wheeler that was turning onto Rittiman.
As a result of the collision, the SUV went under the 18-wheeler and the roof of the vehicle came completely off.
Firefighters responded to the scene and extricated the driver of the SUV from the wreckage. He was declared dead at the scene.
The 18-wheeler was unhurt in the incident.
The crash remains under investigation.
