56-Year-Old Woman Dies, Man Hospitalized after Houston Crash on Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59)

Houston, Texas (June 21, 2019) – A 56-year-old woman was killed and a man was injured Saturday afternoon in a traffic accident involving three vehicles in Houston, according to police.

The deadly accident occurred at about 1:05 p.m. Saturday, June 15 in the 2300 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59).

Police said a black Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck driven by the 56-year-old woman, was heading northbound on the Eastex Freeway when for an unknown reason, the Chevrolet was rear-ended by a gray BMW 5 Series sedan.

The Chevrolet then hit a brown Volkswagen Jetta.

The driver of the Chevrolet sustained critical injuries and was transported to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries Monday, June 17.

The male driver of the BMW was taken to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.  The female driver of the Volkswagen was uninjured.

The names of the deceased victim and injured party have not yet been disclosed.

The crash remains under investigation.
