Man Killed, Woman Injured in Gregg County Motorcycle Crash on FM 2087 and FM 2011

Gregg County, Texas (March 4, 2021) – A man was killed, and a woman was injured Wednesday afternoon in a motorcycle crash in Gregg County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 4:40 p.m., March 3, at the intersection of FM 2087 and FM 2011, about two miles north of Kilgore.

DPS said a 2003 Ford F-150 was traveling southbound on FM 2087 and was preparing to turn eastbound onto FM 2011 while a 2018 Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle was traveling northbound on FM 2087.

The Ford driver attempted to turn left onto FM 2011, but it failed to yield the right of way to the motorcycle, possibly due to impaired visibility caused by the sun. The motorcycle then struck the Ford, ejecting the motorcycle rider and his passenger.

The rider was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released. His female passenger was taken to Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital – Tyler in serious condition.

The Ford driver was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.

A legal advocate can represent an injury victim or the family of a deceased victim. The attorney will file a claim on behalf of the victim and will have the responsibility of citing existing codes, laws, or statutes which were violated.
