Toddler Killed, 1 Injured in Rear-End Crash on TX 124 in Jefferson County

2-Year-Old Girl Killed and Terea McEachern Injured in Jefferson County Truck Accident on TX 124 near Smith Road
Jefferson County, Texas (January 14, 2019) – A toddler was killed and her grandmother was seriously injured Monday morning in a rear-end collision in Jefferson County, according to a local news source.
The deadly crash took place at about 6:45 a.m. on TX 124 near Smith Road.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a dump truck was stopped and waiting to turn off the road onto a driveway when for an unknown reason it was rear-ended by a 2005 Toyota sedan driven by Terea McEachern, 60, of Beaumont.
McEachern sustained serious injuries and was transported to St. Elizabeth’s hospital. Her 2-year-old granddaughter suffered critical injuries and was also transported to St. Elizabeth’s, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The DPS said the child was not properly secured in her car seat.
The operator of the dump truck was uninjured in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by Texas DPS.
