Carlos Rangel Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on Hwy 114 in Rhome

Carlos Rangel Injured in Rhome Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 114 near U.S. 81/287

Rhome, Texas (August 5, 2023) – According to the police, a man was injured Thursday night in a two-vehicle crash in Rhome.

The crash happened around 9:10 p.m., August 3, on Highway 114, east of the U.S. 81/287 intersection.

Police said a 2023 black Freightliner truck tractor driven by Marvin Mills of St. Louis, Missouri, was traveling eastbound and attempted to make a U-turn into the westbound lanes at a crossover.

The semi-truck turned in front of a passenger car while trying to make the U-turn and was struck by a 2016 silver Ford F250 pickup driven by Carlos Rangel, 32, of Boyd.

Rangel was airlifted to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth in unknown condition.

Mills was uninjured in the crash.

The crash closed the highway for over three hours. Officials cleared the scene at about 12:30 a.m. Friday.

The crash remains under investigation.
