1 Killed in Alleged DUI Crash on Katy Freeway in Houston

One Person Killed, Another Arrested after Houston Crash on Katy Freeway and Patterson Street

Houston, Texas (May 6, 2022) – One person was killed in an alleged DUI crash early Friday morning near the Washington Corridor in Houston, according to police.

The deadly accident occurred at about 12:30 a.m. on Katy Freeway and Patterson Street.

Police said a pickup truck was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver ran a red light and struck a minivan.

The driver of the minivan died at the scene. The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Investigators later determined that the pickup truck driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident. The suspect was ultimately booked into jail on charges of intoxication manslaughter.

The crash remains under investigation.
