One Killed, One Injured in Kaufman Crash on State Highway 34 Bypass and FM 1836 / Rand Road

Kaufman, Texas (October 4, 2023) – A multi-vehicle collision claimed the life of one person in Kaufman on Wednesday morning and left one person injured, the Kaufman Police Department reported.

The deadly wreck, which involved a passenger van, a pick-up truck, and another pick-up truck towing a trailer loaded with an excavator, happened shortly before 7:00 a.m. on State Highway 34 Bypass and FM 1836 / Rand Road.

First responders and paramedics responded to the location and found driver of the van unresponsive. The van driver was declared dead at the scene. The name of the deceased, described as a cherished community member, has not been released pending notification of the family.

A juvenile passenger from the same vehicle was alert but seriously injured. The patient was airlifted to a Dallas area hospital for treatment.

The drivers of the pick-up trucks, who were not hurt, cooperated with the investigators.

The Kaufman Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division and the Texas Department of Public Safety are investigating the crash to determine the cause of the crash.
