52-Year-Old Woman Dies, 2 Injured in Houston Car Accident on North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) near 610 North Loop; Lawrence Franklin Arrested

Houston, Texas (August 31, 2019) – A 52-year-old woman was killed and two other people were injured in an alleged DUI car accident in Houston last week Saturday, according to a local news source.

The fatal crash happened at around 12:15 p.m. Saturday, August 24 in the 100 block of North Freeway near 610 North Loop. North Freeway is also known as North Interstate Highway 45.

As per the local news report, Lawrence W. Franklin was driving a gray BMW 740 westbound on 610 North Loop and exited to the entrance ramp to the North Freeway when he crashed into a blue Jeep Cherokee disabled on the shoulder of the entrance ramp.

The BMW then veered off the roadway and hit three of five pedestrians standing in a grassy area away from the disabled vehicle.

The female pedestrian was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. One male victim, 16, and another female, 3, both sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Franklin stopped at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. He was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter.

The crash remains under investigation.
