One Killed and Two Injured in Edinburg Two-Vehicle Crash on East Trenton Road; Otis Barron Arrested

Edinburg, Texas (December 26, 2021) – One person was killed, and two others were injured on Christmas Day in a hit-and-run accident in Edinburg, according to a local news source.

The fatal crash happened around 2:30 a.m., December 25, in the 400 block of East Trenton Road.

According to the report, a pick-up truck was traveling westbound when it crossed into the eastbound lane and crashed head-on into a Nissan Sentra.

The Nissan driver was taken to Edinburg Regional Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. 

Two other people in the Nissan were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The pickup truck driver, Otis Charles Barron Jr., 29, fled the scene and later abandoned the truck further down the road. He was arrested and taken into custody. He has been charged with intoxicated manslaughter, two counts of intoxicated assault, and three charges of accident involving injury or death. His total bond was set at $800,000. 

The police are investigating the crash.
