1 Killed after 18-Wheeler Hits Overturned Pickup Truck on Interstate 10 in Orange

One Killed in Orange Crash on Interstate 10

Orange, Texas (August 3, 2023) – One person was killed in a traffic collision in Orange early Thursday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The fatal crash happened at around 2:30 a.m. on Interstate 10 near mile marker 877.

DPS said a Ford F-150 was traveling on Interstate 10 when the driver failed to maintain its lane and crashed into a concrete barrier. The impact caused the Ford truck to overturn in the travel lane.

Moments later, an 18-wheeler hit the overturned Ford.

The driver of the Ford truck was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the 18-wheeler, 50-year-old Damon Smith of Humble, was not injured.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
