One Killed in SE Austin 18-Wheeler Crash on Texas 71 near Montopolis Drive

Austin, Texas (February 1, 2021) – One person was killed early Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler in Southeast Austin, according to officials.

The fatal crash was reported around 2:07 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the 7200 block of Texas 71, near Montopolis Drive.

Officials said the crash involved an 18-wheeler and a vehicle.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not been released.

The crash closed the westbound lanes of Texas 71 at Riverside Drive.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
