One Killed in Amarillo Two-Vehicle Crash on Loop 335

Amarillo, Texas (October 27, 2023) – One person was killed Thursday evening in a fiery head-on collision in Amarillo, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 7:00 p.m., October 26, on Loop 335 near E. CR 58.

DPS said an SUV veered into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into an 18-wheeler.

The SUV driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not been released.

The 18-wheeler, which was hauling tires, caught fire after the collision. The driver was able to make it out safely.

The crash closed Loop 335 at east CR 58.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
