1 Killed in School Bus Crash on US 90 in Jefferson County

One Killed in Jefferson County School Bus Crash on U.S. Highway 90

Jefferson County, Texas (April 5, 2021) – According to the Texas DPS, one person was killed Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash involving a school bus in Jefferson County, west of China.

The deadly crash was reported just before 8:00 a.m., in the eastbound lanes of U.S. Highway 90, near McDermitt Road.

DPS said a Hardin-Jefferson school bus was traveling eastbound on the highway when it was rear-ended by a Honda minivan.

The Honda became wedged beneath the back left side of the bus.

The minivan driver was killed in the crash. Their identity has not been released.

None of the students were injured in the crash.

The school bus driver was taken to Baptist Hospital in Beaumont for treatment.

The crash closed the eastbound lanes of the highway.

The crash remains under investigation.
