Deputy Jeremy McCoy Killed in Van Zandt County Two-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 198

Van Zandt County, Texas (June 13, 2023) – A Van Zandt County sheriff was killed Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Van Zandt County, according to the deputies.

The fatal crash happened around 4:14 p.m., June 11, on State Highway 198.

Deputies said Sgt. Jeremy McCoy, who was off-duty, was driving southbound on the highway when he collided with a truck that was turning into a private drive.

McCoy was pronounced dead at the scene. One of his children, who was in the vehicle, was airlifted to a Dallas hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

McCoy is survived by a wife and four children.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
