1 Seriously Injured in 3-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 48 in Brownsville

One Person Suffers Serious Injuries in Brownsville Collision on State Highway 48 near Keppel AmFELS; Fernando Garcia Arrested For DUI

Brownsville, Texas (July 12, 2022) – One person was seriously injured following an alleged DUI crash on Monday near Keppel AmFELS in Brownsville, Cameron County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The collision took place on State Highway 48, near mile marker 568 on Monday, July 11.

DPS said three vehicles collided on the highway. One of the involved vehicles, a black Dodge Ram, caused the crash.

One person sustained serious injuries in the crash.

One of the drivers, identified as Fernando Garcia, was arrested on a charge of intoxication assault and a third-degree felony.

Further details regarding the crash were not immediately provided.

An investigation is underway.
