One Seriously Injured in Nacogdoches Two-Vehicle Crash on North Street; Emmanuel Leyva Arrested

Nacogdoches, Texas (June 28, 2021) – One person was seriously injured early Saturday morning in a head-on collision in Nacogdoches, according to the police.

The crash happened at about 1:10 a.m., June 26, in the 2500 block of North Street.

Police said NPD officers were performing traffic enforcement duties when they saw Emmanuel Alejandro Leyva, 33, of Nacogdoches, who was driving a passenger vehicle, pass their position at a high rate of speed and crash head-on into another vehicle in the median.

One person in the other vehicle sustained serious injuries in the crash.

Leyva was found to be intoxicated at the time of the crash, and he was arrested at the scene. He was being held at the Nacogdoches County Jail on a second-degree felony bribery charge and a third-degree felony intoxication assault with a vehicle charge.

According to a media report, Leyva tried to bribe the officers in exchange for his freedom during his arrest.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
