Six Injured in Mesquite Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 20 near Lawson Road

Mesquite, Texas (June 3, 2022) – Six people were injured Sunday evening in a multi-vehicle crash in Mesquite, according to officials.

The crash happened around 6:48 p.m., May 29, in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 near Lawson Road.

Officials said a Chevrolet SUV slowed and stopped due to a piece of furniture on the road and was rear-ended by an 18-wheeler. The force of the impact caused the Chevrolet to veer right and hit a Ford SUV, causing the Ford and the 18-wheeler to overturn.

An occupant in the Chevrolet was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. The Ford driver, a 48-year-old Crandall man, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Three other occupants of the Ford were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries. The 18-wheeler driver, a 62-year-old Chillicothe man, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The crash closed eastbound I-20 for several hours.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
