16-Year-Old Killed in 4-Vehicle Crash on US-59 near Kingwood

16-Year-Old Killed in Kingwood 4-Vehicle Crash on US-59(Eastex Freeway)

Kingwood, Texas (November 11, 2020) – A 16-year-old boy was killed in a four-vehicle crash Tuesday evening near Kingwood, according to police.

The fatal crash happened around 7:30 p.m., November 10, on US-59 (the Eastex Freeway) between Kingwood Drive and Townsen.

Police said a Mercedes broke down in the southbound lanes of the freeway, and both occupants exited the vehicle. The driver of a southbound Dodge pickup saw the Mercedes and stopped behind it.

A southbound Nissan pickup then rear-ended the Dodge and also hit another vehicle. The Nissan also rear-ended the Mercedes, pushing it across the median and into the feeder road.

A 16-year-old boy who was a passenger in the Nissan was killed in the crash. He was visiting from Honduras.

The Nissan driver was taken to the hospital for treatment.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
