4 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on FM 439 in Bell County

Four Hospitalized after Bell County Crash on FM

Bell County, Texas (April 27, 2023) – Four people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Wednesday morning in Bell County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, on FM 439.

DPS said a 41-year-old Mt. Pleasant man was driving a 1997 Freightliner truck tractor westbound on FM 439 at an unsafe speed for the wet roadway.

When the Mt. Pleasant man applied his brakes, the truck lost control and jack-knifed. The truck reportedly veered into the eastbound lane, where it side-swiped a 2008 Chevrolet truck, driven by a 31-year-old Harker Heights man.

The truck tractor then hit a 2006 Nissan SUV, driven by a 22-year-old man from Cartersville, Georgia, and also collided with a 2019 Volkswagen Sedan driven by a 27-year-old woman from Killeen.

All drivers of the vehicles, except for the Volkswagen, were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

Further details regarding the collision were immediately provided.

The crash remains under investigation by DPS.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
