16-Year-Old Killed in Houston Two-Vehicle Crash on Katy Freeway

Houston, Texas – According to a local news source, a teenager was killed and three other teenagers were injured Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Houston.

The fatal crash happened around 1:05 p.m., February 26, in the 5900 block of the Katy Freeway.

According to the report, a white Ford Ranger pickup truck was stationary on the freeway when it was rear-ended by a white Ford Transit 350 Van.

The pickup truck driver, a 16-year-old male, was rushed to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, where he later died. Three 16-year-old female passengers in the pickup were transported to local hospitals in stable condition.

One of the female passengers said that the pickup truck driver had stopped the vehicle to retrieve something that had fallen from it and the collision happened as they were preparing to drive off.

The van driver remained at the scene and was not impaired.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
