2 Firefighters and 1 Police Officer Injured in Lubbock Crash at North I-27 and East Drew Street

Lubbock, Texas (January 11, 2020) – Two firefighters and a police officer were injured early Saturday  morning in a traffic accident on an icy road in Lubbock, according to the authorities.

The crash happened just before 8:30 a.m. in the area of North I-27 and East Drew Street.

Authorities said Lubbock Fire Rescue and Lubbock Police had responded to a crash involving a vehicle and a trailer. About 20 minutes later, another vehicle crashed at the scene, injuring two firefighters and an officer.

A medical helicopter and two ambulances were called to the scene. The conditions of the victims were not disclosed.

The crash closed southbound I-27. Motorists were urged to avoid the area.

No further details were provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
