Two Injured in Mercedes Three-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 2

Mercedes, Texas (August 27, 2023) – Two people were injured Saturday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash in Mercedes, according to the police.

The crash happened on August 26, on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 2 near the Texas Avenue overpass.

Police said a vehicle rear-ended a vehicle, causing a second vehicle to hit a third vehicle.

The driver of the first car was driving too close to the second vehicle and not paying attention to the road.

The driver of the first vehicle and the passenger of the second vehicle were taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Officials said possible charges against the driver of the first vehicle are pending.

The crash remains under investigation.
