Two Killed in Garland Two-Vehicle Crash on Texas 66; Gustavo Huerta Jr., Arrested

Garland, Texas (September 6, 2021) – Two people were killed early Sunday morning in a DUI crash in Garland, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 2:30 a.m., September 5, on westbound Texas 66, between Dexham and Centerville Roads.

Police said Gustavo Huerta Jr., 30, was driving an SUV when he rear-ended a car. The impact caused the car to hit a concrete barrier, overturn into a ditch and catch fire.

Two people in the car were killed in the crash. Their identities have not been released.

Huerta stayed at the scene after the crash and was found to have been impaired. He was arrested and taken to the Garland jail. He is facing a charge of intoxication manslaughter.

The police are investigating the crash.
