Man Killed in Live Oak Crash on Interstate 35; Violeta Martinez Charged

Live Oak, Texas (November 2, 2019) – A man was killed Friday morning in a traffic collision in Live Oak, a local news source reported.

The collision happened around 3:30 a.m., November 1, in the 14600 block of Interstate 35 at Loop 1604.

Police said a man was driving a compact car southbound on I-35 when he ran into a concrete barrier at Loop 1604. Other drivers stopped to help after the crash, but Violeta Martinez, 25, hit his car, causing him to be ejected from his vehicle.

That man was then run over by several other vehicles.

The first vehicle that ran over him fled the scene and authorities are still looking for it.

The man was declared dead at the scene.

Martinez is facing an intoxication manslaughter charge.

The crash remains under investigation.
