Houston, Texas – Two people were killed Thursday morning in a wrong-way crash in Houston, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened just after 4:00 a.m., April 11, at the US-59 Eastex Freeway near George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

Police said a woman was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of the freeway when she crashed head-on into another car in the far left lane.

The woman, who is between 20 and 24 years old, was taken to the hospital where she later died. The other driver, a 22-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not been released.

Officers said the woman might have been intoxicated at the time of the crash.

The crash closed all northbound lanes of the Eastex Freeway near Rankin Road, just north of the Sam Houston Tollway.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
