2 Police Officers Injured in 18-Wheeler Crash on Interstate 20 in Fort Worth

Two Fort Worth Police Officers Hospitalized after Fort Worth Crash on Interstate 20 and West Loop 820

Fort Worth, Texas (February 3, 2023) – Two Fort Worth police officers were hospitalized after a crash involving an  18-wheeler early Thursday morning in southwest Fort Worth, according to Fort Worth Police Department.

The wreck occurred at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, February 2, in the 8900 block of Interstate 20, at I-20 and West Loop 820.

The officers were responding to a crash when they stopped to check on two vehicles. Moments later, their patrol vehicle was struck by an 18-wheeler’s trailer as the truck was jack-knifing.

One officer was in the patrol vehicle at the time of the accident. He was able to get out of the vehicle to avoid getting hit by a second 18-wheeler.

The officer and the second officer fled onto a median to avoid getting hit by a third 18-wheeler. Both officers were transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
