One Killed and Three Injured in Bowie County Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 30

Bowie County, Texas (June 9, 2021) – One person was killed, and three others were injured early Tuesday morning in a multi-vehicle crash in Bowie County, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 2:30 a.m., June 8, on Interstate 30, just west of Spur 74 near Hooks.

DPS said a 2011 Freightliner towing a trailer was traveling westbound on the interstate when it struck a cow. The Freightliner then traveled into the eastbound lane and was struck by a 2021 Chevy Malibu. The trailer rolled over the eastbound lane, and a 2005 Freightliner, also towing a trailer, drove through it and caught fire.

An eastbound 2020 Volvo, also towing a trailer, swerved to the left to avoid the crash, but hit the detached rear axle of the rolled-over trailer.

The driver of the 2005 Freightliner was killed in the crash.

Three people were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 2011 Freightliner driver was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.

A legal advocate can represent an injury victim or the family of a deceased victim. The attorney will file a claim on behalf of the victim and will have the responsibility of citing existing codes, laws, or statutes which were violated.
