3 Injured in Head-On Crash on Hwy 271 in Tyler; Jasmine Gonzalez Arrested

Three Injured in Tyler Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 271; Jasmine Gonzalez Arrested

Tyler, Texas (January 13, 2020) – Three people were injured in a head-on crash early Monday morning in Tyler, according to the police.

The crash occurred at about 12:09 a.m. in the 10700 block of Highway 271, just south of U. T. Hospital.

Police said Jasmine Gonzalez, 19, of Tyler, was driving a 2005 Mercedes-Benz southbound in the northbound lanes when she crashed head-on into a 2019 Nissan Sentra, occupied by a 35-year-old female driver and two children ages 13 and 8.

The Sentra driver and the 8-year-old were taken to the hospital in critical condition. The 13-year-old was also taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Gonzalez was taken to a local hospital where she was treated and released. She was then arrested and charged with two counts of Intoxication Assault and booked into Smith County Jail.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
