Three People Injured in Bell County Crash at Highway 281 and CR-2227

Bell County, Texas (October 17, 2022) – Three people were hospitalized after a three-vehicle collision in Bell County on Saturday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash happened at around 11:54 a.m. Saturday, October 15, on Highway 281, approximately eight miles north of Lampasas.

DPS said a 23-year-old Lampasas woman was driving a 2019 Black Ford Fiesta passenger car northbound on Highway 281 in the inside lane when she failed to control the vehicle’s speed and rear-ended a 2017 Black Toyota Yaris Passenger car that was attempting to make a left turn from Highway 281 northbound onto CR-2227.

Due to the impact, the Toyota veered into the southbound lane, where it collided with an oncoming 2003 Gold Lexus RX3 passenger car.

The driver of the Toyota, a 39-year-old Lampasas woman, was taken to Advent Health ER in Killeen. A 72-year-old Marble Falls man, who was the driver of the Lexus, was taken to Seton Williamson County with incapacitating injuries.

A 69-year-old woman riding as a passenger in the back seat of the Lexus was transported to Seton Williamson County. The driver of the Ford declined medical aid at the scene.

DPS is investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
