3-Year-Old Killed in Houston Two-Vehicle Crash on Eastex Freeway (U.S. 59) at Laura Koppe Road

Houston, Texas (June 3, 2021) – A 3-year-old girl was killed, and two others were injured Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Houston, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened on June 2, on the Eastex Freeway (U.S. 59) at Laura Koppe Road.

Police said a 23-year-old woman was driving a white Chevrolet Traverse northbound on the freeway when she stopped to avoid a pallet of metal debris that was blocking a lane.

The woman tried to drive around the pallet and was hit by a green Ford Taurus.

The force of the impact caused both vehicles to spin.

A 3-year-old, who was a passenger in the Traverse, was taken to Texas Children’s Hospital, where she later died. A 4-month-old baby girl was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The Taurus driver, a 79-year-old man, was taken to the hospital with a broken leg along with various cuts and bruises.

Officers said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
