31-Year-Old Woman Killed in East El Paso Car Crash on Gateway East

El Paso, Texas – A 31-year-old woman was killed on New Year’s Day in East El Paso after she rear-ended a U-Haul truck, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened on January 1, in the 8600 block of Gateway East.

Police said the woman was driving a 2016 Toyota RAV 4 at a high rate of speed when she attempted to move into the right-hand lane but collided with the rear of a U-Haul truck.

The impact tore open the roof of the Toyota.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.

The man was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The police are investigating the crash.
