5 Hospitalized after Bexar County Crash on Loop 1604 and Shuwirth Road

Bexar County, Texas (June 25, 2019) – Five people, including two children, were injured Tuesday morning in a traffic accident involving a VIA bus in eastern Bexar County, authorities said.

The accident took place at about 5:55 a.m. in the area of the Loop 1604 and Shuwirth Road.

According to the authorities, the driver a red sedan ran a red light and struck the VIA bus and then crashed into a pickup truck.

A total of five people sustained injuries as a result of the wreck. One of the victims had critical injuries. The patients were transported to University Hospital and San Antonio Military Medical Center.

No other details were immediately available.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
