Brownsville, Texas – Five people were critically injured Thursday morning in a three-vehicle crash in Brownsville, according to officials.

The crash happened around 7:30 a.m., April 18, on State Highway 4 near SpaceX.

Police said a red Jeep and a white Silverado pickup truck were traveling eastbound while an 18-wheeler was traveling westbound. The Jeep passed on a no-passing zone and struck the 18-wheeler, which then collided head-on with the Silverado.

Two passengers in the truck were trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated.

Two passengers of the pick-up truck suffered fractured legs.

Five people were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

No other information was available.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
