Man Critically Injured in Dallas Two-Vehicle Crash on St. Augustine Drive at Fireside Drive; Jose Salas Arrested

Dallas, Texas (March 18, 2022) – A man was critically injured Thursday night in a DWI crash in Dallas, according to the police.

The crash happened just after 9:00 p.m., March 17, at the intersection of St. Augustine Drive and Fireside Drive.

Police said Jose Salas, 32, was driving a red 2010 Cadillac Escalade southbound at a high rate of speed while the man was driving a gray 2006 Toyota Matrix on St. Augustine Drive and was attempting to turn left onto Fireside Drive.

The man began to turn left, and his Toyota was struck by the speeding Escalade.

The force of the impact caused the Toyota to rotate back towards the center of the intersection while the Escalade continued through the intersection and went off onto the right curb, hit a pole, and rolled to the left.

Both drivers were taken to a local hospital where Salas was tested for DWI. The other driver was hospitalized with critical injuries.

Salas was subsequently arrested for intoxication assault.

The crash remains under investigation.
