57-Year-Old Woman Killed in Houston Pedestrian Accident on Katy Freeway

Houston, Texas (July 6, 2023) – A 57-year-old woman was killed early Sunday morning in a hit-and-run accident in Houston, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 2:25 a.m., July 2, in the 19800 block of Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10).

Police said the woman had pulled over onto the shoulder of the eastbound (inbound) lanes of the freeway and was changing her tire when she was struck by a vehicle. The driver fled the scene without stopping to render aid.  

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.

The hit-and-run vehicle was only described as being white in color and missing a side mirror, which was recovered at the crash scene.

The police are investigating the crash. Anyone with any information on the wanted driver and vehicle is urged to call the HPD Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4072 or speak anonymously with Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
