Six Injured in Amarillo Two-Vehicle Crash at I-40 and Hope Road

Amarillo, Texas (August 3, 2023) – Six people were injured Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Amarillo, according to the Texas DPS.

The crash happened around 11:45 a.m., August 2, at the intersection of I-40 and Hope Road.

DPS said a BMW SUV was traveling on I-40 service road approaching a stop sign. A dump truck was traveling on Hope Road, approaching the intersection.

The driver of the BMW failed to yield right-of-way at the intersection, pulled out into the path of the dump truck, and was struck. 

Six people in the BMW were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Two of them had life-threatening injuries, and four had non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
